The Warchkeeper class of vessels is utilised by the Coast Guard, performing the dual missions of defending and surveilling Xuande-Xiphoi's national waters and providing an important training opportunity for members of the Coast Guard, Navy, and other services from time to time. The vessels are positioned across Xuande-Xiphoi at military and civilian ports.
Each vessel is able to be equipped with a range of weapons, however these are not normally mounted in regular service due to the domestic surveillance nature of their role. Each vessel features an aluminium construction, and is powered by two MTU engines producing 1790 kW of power; propulsion is achieved through two FF600 waterjets allowing for high speed operations. Each vessel is equipped with a full range of military communications, intelligence, and surveillance equipment including long range EO/IR camera and hand-launched and recovered light naval drones. When required, vessels can be equipped with four side launched Naval Strike Missiles; a forward mounted Bushmaster II mounted 30mm cannon, aft mounted .50 calibre machine gun, and mounting positions for other weapons around the vessel. An armoury for infantry weapons is also provided. Crew facilities are provided, sufficient for a missile boat configured crew of up to 7 to operate for one week continuously. A combat crew includes the commander, normally an officer at the equivalent rank of Sub-Lieutenant or Lieutenant (but occasionally being Petty Officers Class 1 and above); a helmsman, three gunners mates, and a radio officer. Sufficient accomodations are made for up to 12 passengers, which can include trainees or experience passengers. Watchkeeper class vessels are utilised to facilitate the Naval Service's portion of the Interservice Experience programme. The programme provides Armed Services from all other services and National Police members a short term posting serving aboard a Watchkeeper class vessel, gaining useful maritime skills and Navy/Coast Guard lifestyle exposure. |
