The Recon Scout series Sharpshooter rifle is utilised in Xuande-Xiphoian service as an intermediate calibre precision rifle, primarily used by infantry weapons section personnel to provide long range overwatch and fires support.
The weapon has a bullpup configuration, which allows for a longer barrel in a smaller overall package. Particular design attention was paid to keeping the platform light and mobile, making it easier to use by infantry soldiers. To achieve this the weapon is made with new technology polymer that increases strength more then 150% for the same weight in traditional materials. It utilizes high-impact polymers, aircraft grade aluminums (7075-T6), ultra high strength steels, and exceptionally strong coatings. Many of the components are adjustible for the individual shooter, and includes useful tools such as an adjustable cheek rest and rear monopod. The weapon is, of course, designed to achieve exceptional accuracy. It incorporates match grade (free-floated) barrels, match trigger, and a solid return-to-zero barrel mounting system. The Scout Recon was designed to operate under the harshest conditions. The full length rifle rail provides a mounting surface for state of the art night vision optics, thermal sights, and other accessories. In Xuande-Xiphoian service, a Helix suppressor is issued alongside the rifle. Standard equipment provided alongside the weapon in Xuande-Xiphoian service include:
The standard issue day optic is the Kahles K624i scope alongisde a standard night optic, the FWS-I night vision scope. The use of an advanced bolt system allows for a good rate of fire, while preventing the deformation of the round to maintain accuracy. A range of calibres are able to be used with this weapon with the use of a calibre converstion kit, including the Armed Service's standard 6.5mm Grendel standard round, but the usual load for this weapon is the .338 Norma Magnum round shared with the LWMMG. The Xuande-Xiphoian Army issues the rifle in both a standard variant and a 'covert' variant which possesses an overall shorter length and lighter weight, although this variant has relatively limited effective range. |
